Miele Takes Video Production In-house with NDI

USE CASE

NDI PRODUCTS

ECOSYSTEM PARTNER

A worldwide kitchen appliance manufacturer, Miele uses high-end video to drive brand awareness through livestream cooking demonstrations and pre-recorded marketing content. The marketing team outsourced video production for years, which was costly, time-consuming, and forced Miele to surrender creative control to an external entity.

To maximize flexibility, cost savings, and creative control, Miele turned to Ganz Supravision to build a 100% NDI-based solution.

Challenge

Outsourcing video production is expensive in Switzerland, where Miele’s chefs and marketing team livestream cooking demonstrations and record videos that showcase their cutting-edge technology.

They wanted to take video production in-house, but it would have been impossible for non-technical staff to master their existing SDI setup and produce high-quality videos. The learning curve on SDI tech is simply too high.

Additionally, SDI’s complex configurations can take multiple days to set up, making it difficult to create content on short notice. This reduced the amount of content the team could produce each quarter.

To find a better solution, Switzerland’s Miele office turned to Ganz Supravision. Co-CEO Christian Mossner and his team designed a solution that took just 2 weeks to deploy once they had completed the investigation phase. Next, they led a 4-day training that empowered in-house staff to create premium-quality livestreams and videos.

Such a rapid transformation and seamless adoption were only possible with the right technology and infrastructure.

I want to give my clients low-cost, high-performing technology, and that’s NDI. It’s the future of video production. The next generation of content creators will have no interest in SDI.

Solution

The setup included Vizrt Tricaster Mini, Canon’s Cinema C70 cameras and Hybrid R5C cameras, along with two Canon PTZ camera models (CR-N300 and CR-N500), which the team operated with Canon’s RC-IP100 controller.

NDI’s streamlined cabling connected the entire centralized system, providing an easy-to-use production platform that doesn’t require a technical background to master.

Christian and his team provided a comprehensive 4-day training to 3 chefs, 1 marketing professional, and 1 salesperson, who mastered the equipment by the end of the training.

I was a little bit worried about using a professional camera, but after training with Christian, I can work the PTZ camera. It’s very, very easy to use.

Outcome

Thanks to their NDI-powered studio, Miele’s creative team now has the flexibility to produce premium-quality videos and livestreams at a moment’s notice. They no longer need to outsource creative control, and they’ve enjoyed significant savings without sacrificing quality. Barbara Märkli, Miele’s Head of Culinary Experience, anticipates a high five-figure euro savings and complete cost recovery within 3 years.

That said, what’s even more significant than raw ROI is that Miele democratized video production through NDI, increasing both content quality and production volume. As a marketing-driven company, Miele now has the technical tools to bolster its brand in the years and decades to come.

Ideal Systems will continue to collaborate with NIN9, testing new NDI products as they enter the market and continually improving podcast production quality.

We save on agency costs in the upper five-figure euro range, and we expect to amortize our studio within the next three years.
