Ideal Systems announced their collaboration with NIN9 Studios in Singapore to launch a cutting-edge commercial podcast production studio.
Challenge
Transforming a commercial photography studio into a high-end video production studio is no simple task. Hoping to develop a new revenue stream, the NIN9 team decided to offer clients professional podcasting capabilities combined with flawless production.
We’re all familiar with low-fidelity podcasts recorded in home studios, but commercial podcasting requires advanced technology. The NIN9 studio had to accommodate:
- Multi-camera technology.
- Multiple audio channel inputs.
- Teleprompter technology.
- Graphics integration.
- Video conferencing integration.
Additionally, NIN9 required flexible technology that would open up new avenues for creative freedom in the Production Control Room (PCR), where they could reuse DSLRs and lenses, convert signals to and from NDI, and mix camera feeds to capture a wide range of shots from different angles.

The ideal technology would grant his team creative freedom to enhance videos and produce professional-quality podcasts that no one else in Singapore was creating. NIN9 turned to Ideal Systems, a leader in NDI video solutions, to design and build Singapore’s first commercial podcast studio.

Solution
Ideal Systems designed a high-quality, flexible, cost-effective solution for NIN9 using the following NDI technology.
- VizRT TriCaster TC1 Pro with the Tricaster Flex Dual Control Panel for high-end production.
- BirdDog NDI HX X4 Ultras and DSLRs for live streaming across multi-camera setups.
- Kiloview NDI infrastructure in the PCR.
- Kiloview CUBE R1 recorder system to capture and store exceptional audio.
- Telescript NDI teleprompter.
Thanks to the control room’s NDI infrastructure, the team can now encode SDI to NDI from the DSLRs and decode NDI to HDMI for their large Hisense video display with its Kiloview CUBE R1 recorder.

We can even reuse our DSLRs and lenses and convert them to NDI and mix with the camera feeds from the BirdDog cameras, giving us a great range of shots in our productions.

NDI technology empowered NIN9 to launch a flexible, cutting-edge commercial podcast studio without spending a fortune on technology. The new studio has given NIN9 a new revenue stream in a market with minimal competition, given its first-to-market advantage in Singapore.
