NDI to Enable Real-time, AI-Powered Multilingual Content Production and Distribution at Scale with NVIDIA AI for Media

Combining NDI connectivity with NVIDIA AI for Media technologies helps broadcasters deliver localized content to global audiences while reducing the infrastructure required for multilingual production and distribution

NDI, the global standard for plug-and-play video connectivity, today announced NVIDIA AI-powered workflows that enable broadcasters to create and distribute multilingual content in real-time. Combining NDI-native connectivity with NVIDIA AI for Media, including the NVIDIA LipSync NIM microservice, makes content immediately accessible to audiences in their preferred language, from live events and breaking news to sports, entertainment and corporate communications.

The initiative addresses one of the industry’s most significant challenges: the cost and complexity of delivering content across multiple languages. Traditionally, broadcasters create, transport and distribute separate versions of the same content, requiring multiple production, bandwidth and infrastructure for each language, making it difficult to deliver localized content in real-time.

NDI and NVIDIA are working to change that by enabling multiple language experiences to be generated from a common media stream. For broadcasters, this means the same source content can be adapted for different audiences without replicating production operations for every language.

During internal testing of a workflow of 10 languages, the new method was able to achieve the same results with 8 times less video carried.

“Broadcasters have spent decades trading audience reach against distribution cost,” said Miguel Coutinho, Head of NDI. “With NVIDIA AI for Media, we are enabling a fundamentally different model, where a single media workflow can support multiple language experiences. This has the potential to significantly reduce bandwidth and distribution costs while making multilingual content accessible to far larger audiences.”

Built with NVIDIA AI for Media, including the NVIDIA LipSync NIM microservice, the workflows support real-time translation, lip-synced dubbing and regional language adaptation, with the potential to support localized advertising as well. They are designed to fit into existing broadcast and media production environments, so organizations can add AI-powered localization without having to rebuild their current operations.

“AI is transforming the way content is created, adapted and delivered,” said Lewis Smithingham, Principal Product Manager, Media & Entertainment at NVIDIA. “The goal is to provide media organizations with the ability to increase viewer engagement by delivering content in their language and with advertising that makes sense for who and where they are. It’s a solution designed to create maximum value while reducing the cost and complexity of multilingual content delivery.”

The solution is currently being tested with a select group of partners in live production and enterprise communication. Proof-of-Concept demonstrations can be scheduled in advance at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam by contacting NDI representatives.
